How to Schedule a Delivery for Your Client:
How Scheduling a Delivery Works:
Once youâve created a client profile for your delivery recipient and have âdummyâ drivers, vehicles, and routes ready, you can schedule your delivery ahead of time or on-demand.*NOTE: All deliveries on a single Route must have the same pick-up time. You can schedule all of your deliveries for the same time and modify Routes during Optimization to stagger Lyft drivers. Or, you can schedule deliveries at different times and modify Routes during Optimization to make sure every delivery on a Route has the same pick-up time.
Steps:
- To reach the Scheduling Screen navigate to the Scheduling Tab and select the Scheduling Icon. Or, navigate to the delivery recipient's Client Profile and click on the Create a New Trip Icon (orange wheel with a green plus sign).
- When the Scheduling Screen displays, you can complete the form by starting with the Client* name field. Type in the first few letters of the clientâs first or last name. A dropdown menu will appear with the clientâs name. Select the appropriate client for whom you are scheduling a delivery.
- After you select the correct client from the dropdown menu, the following fields will autopopulate in the form:
- Account*
- Date*/Status*
- Company*
- Purpose*/Mode**
- Primary Address*
- Name
- Full Name
- City*/Unit
- State*/Postal*
- Needs/Delivery Item
- The Date* field will autopopulate with todayâs date. This is for the date of the delivery. To select future dates, type in the date field or click on the calendar icon.
- If the delivery is a Recurring/Repeat Delivery, click on the orange and green arrows icon.
- Select the day(s) of the week you want to schedule the repeat deliveries.
- Select an End Date for the repeat deliveries.
- If needed, set a date or date range to be excluded from the repeat series.
- When youâve finished setting any repeat deliveries, click back on the Scheduling form.
- Deliveries are scheduled, so youâll want to leave the Status field on scheduled.
- Purpose* / Mode* fields will autopopulate.
- The time of the delivery is in military time. Enter the pick-up time (PU) of the delivery in the first field. The drop-off time (DO) will automatically calculate.
- You will need to calculate for time zone differences if there are any.
- Put all times in the time zone of the software user. For example if it is 8:00 AM where the user is located and a delivery pick up location is two hours ahead, put in the time of the delivery as 10:00 AM.
- The Pick-Up Address (PU) populates with the Account location pick-up address. This is where the delivery item is picked-up. The Drop-Off Address (DO) populates with the Primary Address of the delivery recipient (home address or where the client receives deliveries). Click on the Address* field in the PU and DO addresses to activate the addresses (note green checkmarks indicate valid addresses).
- When the pick-up and drop-off addresses have been activated, you will be able to see the total Mileage of the delivery.
- The estimated cost from Lyft for an on-demand single drop delivery and the delivery fee will update. The Lyft cost will change if the delivery becomes part of a route.
- The Delivery Item will autpopulate in the Need box. If the client needs to change the number of items they are receiving, or what they are receiving, you can update the number by typing over the populated number.
- You can input a Note(s) for the driver and/or the dispatcher. The driver note will cut off in the Lyft app at 100 characters, approximatley 2/3 of the way across the Note field.
- Click the blue icon checkbox to send the note to the driver and/or the pink icon checkbox for the note to be visible to the dispatcher.
