How to Edit and Add a “dummy” Vehicle

Settting Up Your Platform for Your Delivery Needs: How to Add "dummy" Vehicles and How to Edit Existing Vehicles.

How "dummy" Vehicles Work:

A “dummy” vehicle is attached to every delivery. This video shows you how to edit existing or add more “dummy” vehicles. These “vehicles” are placeholders and are attached to each delivery, so that it may be sent to a Lyft driver.

Steps:

To edit an existing "dummy" vehicle:

1. Navigate to the Operations tab and click the Vehicles icon.
2. On the Vehicle Profile screen, click on the vehicle you want to edit from the list in the column labeled Vehicle Name.
3. Make any changes needed within the Vehicle Profile form by typing over the existing information. All fields with an (*) must be completed.
4. Click the floppy disc button to save your edits.
   

Example: You can change the naming structure for the list from an alpha (a-z) to a numeric ordering system (1,2,3) by clicking on each driver and changing the first name field from a letter to a number. Be sure to save all changes.

To add a new "dummy" vehicle:

1. Navigate to the Operations tab and click the Vehicles icon.
2. The Vehicle screen will open to a blank Vehicle Profile form.
3. Complete all fields with an (*). These required fields are “dummy” fields and serve as placeholder information. Always click the floppy disc button to save your edits.
   • Name*: Give a name that corresponds with the dummy driver and route.
   • Class* - Select Lyft.
   • Vehicle information (VIN, Make/Model etc.) - is not applicable.
   • Company* - Autopopulates.
   • Zone* - Not applicable.
   • Status* - Defaults to Active. Status can be changed to Inactive if you no longer want to use this Vehicle.
   • Base Location* - is used if you are operating in areas very far apart (six to eight hour drive from company address). Please contact On the Go for assistance.
   • Capacity* - Select “Default”.
   • State*/License* - Add the state in which the deliveries will occur. License plate number is not a required field.
   • Class*/Plate Exp. - Select the most common class of drivers license in your state, typically “D”. Lyft drivers have the most common class of license or above. Plate Expiration is not a required field.
4. Click the floppy disc button to save your edits.
