How to Add and Edit a “dummy” Route

How "dummy" Routes Work:

A “dummy” route is attached to every delivery. This video shows you how to add more “dummy” routes and how to edit existing routes. These “routes” are placeholders and are attached to every delivery in order for your deliveries to be sent to a Lyft driver.

Steps:

To edit an existing route:

1. Navigate to the Operations tab and click the Routes icon.
2. On the Route screen, click on the route you want to edit from the list in the column labeled Route Name.
3. Make any changes needed within the Route form by typing over the existing information. All fields with an (*) must be completed. For ease of use, these routes should always correspond with existing “dummy” vehicles and drivers.
4. Click the floppy disc button to save your edits.
   

Example: You can change the naming structure for the routes from an alpha (a-z) to a numeric ordering system (1,2,3) by clicking on each route and changing the first name field from a letter to a number. Be sure to save all changes.

To add a new route:

1. Navigate to the Operations tab and click on the Routes icon.
2. The Routes screen will open with a blank route form.
3. Complete all fields with an (*). These required fields are “dummy” fields and serve as placeholder information. Always click the floppy disc button to save your edits.
   • Name*: Type in Route Name that corresponds with the driver and vehicle already created.
   • Status* - Defaults to Active.
   • Company* - Your Company name will auto-populate.
   • Days* - Select each day of the week because Lyft drivers are available every day.
   • Driver/Attendant - Select the corresponding driver for the route. Example: Route 1 matches Driver, 1. Attendant does not apply.
   • Preferred Vehicle -Select the corresponding vehicle for the route and driver. Example: Route 1 matches Driver 1 which matches Vehicle 1.
4. Click the floppy disc button to save your edits.
